Solar PV

Photovoltaic solar panels use cells to convert solar radiation into electricity. The photovoltaic (PV) cell consists of one or two layers of a semi conducting material, usually silicon. When light shines on the cell it creates an electric field across the layers, causing electricity to flow. Cells are arranged in solar panels which can be fixed to the roof of the property or at a suitably orientated position.

The electricity produced by the solar panel can stored in deep cycle batteries using a solar charge controller or converted to mains compatible AC using a grid tied inverter.
